About

A Family Heritage at Work

Salvatore Pilato, Head Mason

Salvatore Pilato learned the masonry craft from his father on the island of Ischia near Naples, Italy. He has worked in Fairfield County since the 1970s, owning his own family business since 1981. Sal is dedicated to creating stone work that improves his clients’ homes and stands the test of time. He values function and aesthetic, but above all, quality craftsmanship. He has extensive knowledge of New England stone and founded a masonry supply store.

Sal is industrious with a playful attitude. When working, his decades of experience, honest approach and dedication are apparent. Beyond his expert masonry knowledge, clients and contractors value him as a consultant and trouble-shooter in all areas of landscape design and construction. Most notable are Sal’s technical experience and knowledge. Above all, he loves creating efficient, well-functioning, wood-burning pizza ovens. He has built and repaired brick and stone pizza ovens in Connecticut since the 1980s.

Pasquale Pilato, Stone Sculptor and Mason

Pasquale Pilato continues in the family’s masonry tradition and also crafts unique garden art. He combines skills acquired from old masters with a modern, fresh approach. With his engineering degree, he uses creativity, principles of equilibrium and precision to monumental projects and smaller scale pieces alike. Nature’s flow, timeless stone, the ordinary presented in a new light continue to influence, inspire, move, and motivate him as an artisan.
